Small Claims Procedure Registry Holds Review Meeting

April 04 2024: The team from the Small Claims Procedure Registry held its fourth quarterly meeting in Arua. 

The meeting was held at the Hunters Nest Hotel and chaired by the Chairperson Small Claims Procedure(SCP) Implementation Committee, Hon. Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire.

The Arua Resident Judge, Hon. Justice Collins Acellam flagged off the meeting which was attended by Judicial Officers from Arua Chief Magistrates Court, Arua City Court, Pakwach, Nebbi, Paidha, and staff responsible for SCP at the respective courts.

Hon. Justice Kiryabwire encouraged the members to always be keen on the way they manage court records to ensure accuracy of reports and statistics.

He further reminded them of the Alternative Justice System where Small Claims Procedure falls, noting that it is the way to go.

Hon. Justice Acellam called for improved service delivery in the West Nile sub region with staff at implementing courts being proactive in their role to ensure increased uptake of the fast access to justice initiative. He also urged the staff to ensure that small claims are registered in registers provided.

The Assistant Registrar SCP, HW Mastula Mulondo who led the team, took members through the previous reports and the current statistics. She stressed the importance of proper keeping of records which makes the Procedure easier to use.
